Congratulations to Rodney Irving receiving the AY 22/23 SONHS Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship award.
Growing up in Newark, NJ I witnessed the majority of the people in my community struggle to access essential things like healthcare, quality education, nutrient dense foods and safe housing. These disparities continue to result in negative health outcomes for many people from underserved communities like mine. There are people that are living with preventable illnesses or living in areas plagued by drugs and violence that feel hopeless and have given up on the possibility of a healthy and prosperous life. I am committed to identifying and providing the appropriate support and attention that is required for people from marginalized communities to live their healthiest possible lives.
